Genesis 1:1-5
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was a vast waste, darkness covered the deep, and the spirit of God hovered over the surface of the water. God said: "Let there be light," and there was light; and God saw the light was good, and he separated the light from darkness. He called the light day, and the darkness night. So evening came, and morning came; it was the first day.
The year 2007 is gone, finished, past. We cannot reclaim it or undo it. The New Year, like a newborn child, which is placed in our hands as the old year passes away. We cannot rest on the things it has brought us. The days and weeks to come are God's gift; they carry God's blessing and the time to show our faith in Jesus as Lord. Let's journey forward, knowing that God already inhabits the future and promises to provide us refreshment.
My prayer for the year ending is that all that was good in it remain with us an all that was harmful be left behind. We can give God more this year. Paul teaches us in Philippians 4:8. "Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." God bless you all is my prayer!
A New Year’s Prayer…
Bless us, O Lord, and bless the time and seasons yet to come. Teach us to number our days, that we may gain wisdom of heart. Please give us wisdom and strength to serve you with integrity and faithfulness in this coming year, and fill this year with your mercy and love. So, that we may be glad and rejoice all the days of our lives. Father may we live more for you and less for ourselves. Please help us see your plans in each of our days and live in a way which honors you! In Jesus’ name! AMEN.
