When You Forgive

"And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he had prayed for his friends; and the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before."--Job 42:10

To forgive, we do not have to say that whatever happened was okay, and you are not required to have the same relationship with that person(s) that you had before. In fact, your relationship will never be the same and before we can forgive, we need to allow ourselves to really feel the pain of the experience. If we don’t fully acknowledge our disappointments, let-downs, and pain, we will continue to carry them subconsciously and they will wear on your spirit. -- Christiane Northrup said, "To get to forgiveness, we first have to work through the painful experiences that require it."

To forgive, we need to decide that we will not allow the memories of the event to poison us any longer. We must be ready to heal this wound from the past and open to a fresh new beginning. The blessing is that when we are truly ready to experience God’s love, mercy, and Grace we must let go of what pains us and be open to his will. By releasing our pain to God through prayer we can be free in giving and receiving forgiveness, and in that we are greatly blessed… The biblical story of Job relates the power of forgiveness in even the most challenging of circumstances. Job's faith was tested, and much of his humiliation came at the hands of his so-called friends who pretended to be helpful, but in fact they were mocking him. Job had to be perplexed, angry, and hurt. Just the way we feel we people put us down.

The moment Job prayed for his friends, his relationships and fortunes were restored. As Job did, we can pray for the well-being of others in a powerful restorative act of forgiveness. We can forgive others for treating us with anything less than respect and honor. We can forgive ourselves for thinking we are anything less than whole, abundant, and worthy of God’s love and grace. This inner resurgence of forgiveness impacts all areas of our lives in positive ways.

In forgiving, we can experience forgiveness, just as Job did and in that we are greatly blessed…

AMEN

“Truly Giving Thanks”

Monday, November 23, 2009 Colossians 3:17 “Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Truly Giving Thanks! I hear people proclaim that they thank God for this and thank God for that and I often wonder do they really mean what they say? Do folk really thank God for waking up in the morning? Do folk truly thank God for use of their right mind? Do folk really praise Him they way he deserves to be praised? For me, I believe most people say it because it has become custom and ritual rather than meaningful. Evident by the way most folk who proclaim these things live their lives. Actions speak louder than words! Folk say they thank God yet they do not live for him. For example, ever seen an award show and a popular performer receives a Grammy. They often begin their acceptance remarks by saying “First, I give honor to God.” But the recording and video they performed represente...

DO NOT LOOK BACK

Genesis 19:26 26But his wife looked back from behind him and she became a pillar of salt. I have been traveling this week on an extended road trip. Let me say that I am grateful and truly blessed for all your prayers and phone calls. I traveled to New Jersey, Virginia, and North Carolina this passed week. God blessed me to arrive at each of my destinations on time and safely. Along the way, I noticed one thing when I was driving. I always had to keep my eyes firmly fixed on the road ahead of me. I was aware of the traffic behind me through my rear view mirror. I was aware of the traffic around me through my side view mirrors but for the most part my eyes were fixed on the road ahead. So often times in life we look back on our past, we look back on “what was” instead of what is or what could be through Christ. God promises us that He will never leave or never forsake us. God is with us in the good times and through the bad times. He is here today, and he will be there tomorrow and will ...

WAKE UP

Monday, October 12, 2009 Acts 12:5-11 5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. 6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. 7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. 8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. 9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. 10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on...
