Psalm 119:129-136
129 Your statutes are wonderful; therefore, I obey them. 130 The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. 131 I open my mouth and pant, longing for your commands. 132 Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. 133 Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. 134 Redeem me from human oppression, that I may obey your precepts. 135 Make your face shine on your servant and teach me your decrees. 136 Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed.
Does the prospect of changing and growing in the Lord seem mammoth to you? Is taking that first step in admitting your need for God difficult? Then consider this approach. Take that first step anyway. Take a step out on His word. Begin to see the people, activities and things around you as God reveals them to you. Nevertheless, it is up to you! You have to make up in your mind that you are going to step out on faith and stretch out on God.
Our journey in life is made of many small steps, some more difficult than others. Do not focus on a far-off destination if you are not clear how to get there; just embrace the word of God. Believe that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. Moreover, commit yourself to daily study of His word. Build a foundation to deal with the challenges in life, which are surely to come. Allow God to get you where you need to be one-step at a time. Allow God to direct your footsteps according to His word; and nothing of this world will rule over you. AMEN!
