A Desperate Thanksgiving

Psalm 118:1
1O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his Mercy endureth for ever.

How do you give thanks to God in the midst of desperate situation? You may have lost your job. May have been given a bad medical diagnosis or maybe you are in the midst of losing a loved one. Despite what you are going through, God is still in the blessing business. Let’s take the woman in Mark Chapter 5. This woman had been suffering for a long time, just like some of you. She had a female problem, more than likely it was ovarian cancer, she was bleeding nonstop for 12 years. She went to many doctors. She spent all her money and was getting worse by the day! For all intent and purposes she was probably ready to just give up. No more money. She could not work in her condition. Husband probably left her. Children probably abandoned her. She was probably all alone in a desperate and seemingly hopeless situation. It was all over for her. She was probably told by her family just give up and die. The doctors probably told her, make arrangements, there is nothing more we can do. Go home and die. Give thanks? She had nothing to give thanks for. Nothing?

Nevertheless, she hears about Jesus. She heard about the many miracles. She heard about the Sick being healed. She heard about the dead being raised to life. She heard about the many signs and wonders. She heard about demons being cast out of the afflicted. Despite her troubles, despite her facing death. Her faith allowed her to believe that if she could just touch his garment, she would be made whole again. Wow! I bet she was praying, praising and thanking God all the way there to see Jesus. Pressing her way through the crowd! She had a determination to get her break trough despite her situation. Nothing was going to stop her NOTHING! I call that a desperate faith. I call that a desperate praise! I call that a desperate Thanksgiving!
A desperate faith does something it has never done before. If you want to delivered from a desperate situation, it is not enough to listen and believe and want your situation to change. You must act on what you believe regardless of how impossible or even silly it may seem. A desperate faith, a desperate praise does things never done before. A desperate thanksgiving get’s you something you have never had before! To get a break through, you must do something you have never done before! Give God thanks & glory in the midst of what you are going through… YES! I call that a desperate thanksgiving!

What tough situation do you face today that only God can deal with? Sickness, financial problems, family problems, job related issues? No matter what they are what you need is a desperate praise in the midst of your situation. While you are going through! Regardless of what is happening in your life this thanksgiving give God the glory, give God the praise and give God thanks in the midst of the situation! Lose you job? Give God the glory! Sick? Give God the glory! For the garment of his word is forever with us! Reach out touch the word and be made whole! After the woman had touched him and told Jesus about her situation Jesus said to the women, "Daughter, your faith has made you well..." A desperate faith; a desperate praise; and a desperate thanks will always get something from God you never had before! Jesus told her that it was HER FAITH that made her well. Not his faith. Not my faith. My GOD! YOUR FAITH will carry you through! If you can praise him in the midst of what you are going through your praise will be even greater once you get through! Oh let us give thanks unto the LORD together; for he is good. His Love! His Grace! His Mercy endures forever and ever! HAPPY THANKSIVING! Have a blessed holiday week, In Jesus’ Name… Amen!

Happy New Year!

Genesis 1:1-5 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was a vast waste, darkness covered the deep, and the spirit of God hovered over the surface of the water. God said: "Let there be light," and there was light; and God saw the light was good, and he separated the light from darkness. He called the light day, and the darkness night. So evening came, and morning came; it was the first day. The year 2007 is gone, finished, past. We cannot reclaim it or undo it. The New Year, like a newborn child, which is placed in our hands as the old year passes away. We cannot rest on the things it has brought us. The days and weeks to come are God's gift; they carry God's blessing and the time to show our faith in Jesus as Lord. Let's journey forward, knowing that God already inhabits the future and promises to provide us refreshment. My prayer for the year ending is that all that was good in it remain with us an all that was harmful be left behind. We...

Time of Refreshings

Last week the women of Peace of God Outreach Ministries celebrated Mother’s Day followed by an anointed service on last Wednesday night, followed by a women’s conference on Saturday, and yesterday everything culminated with beautiful Sunday Service. The women of Peace of God Outreach Ministries are known as the Daughter of Thunder. Their theme this year came was “A Time of Refreshing” from Acts 3:19 “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” We indeed had a beautiful services all last week. First giving honor to God and to my Senior Pastors Gary and Patricia Stern for their vision and leadership. I give honor to the Daughters of Thunder for their hard work which showed throughout the outstanding programs and worship services. As for me, and the Sons of Thunder, it was a blessing to assist with setting up and breaking down. Everything was in place, decent and in order. Worship such a...

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

Isaiah 46:3-4 Listen to me...you whom I have upheld since you were conceived, and have carried since your birth. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you. I found this illustration for Father’s Day. It is the story of Derek Redmond, a star runner in the 1992 Olympics. Derek was competing for the medal in the 400 meter race. Less than half-way through, he ripped a hamstring muscle and fell to the ground in agony. While the rest of the runners moved past him, Derek managed to get to his feet and began struggling to move forward. Then something caught the attention of the television cameras. Jim, his father, ran past security and onto the race track. At first Derek shrugged him away, saying, "I'm going to finish the race." Jim said to his son, "We've started everything together. We'll finish this together." He put his arm around his son and held him as they crossed the finish line together. ...
